Hey Guys! A big rainy thunderstorm here in Utah today! My pups are here at my feet snoring as usual and I’m all bundled up in a warm fleece with a pot of chai tea on the stove. I hope you’re doing well! Feeling pretty blessed here myself!
I’ve been thinking a bit about where my authors are once they’ve written their book. Let me paint a picture for you and see if you can relate… You write and publish a book then you go off to a speaking engagement and a venue that also has a bookstore.
You meander into the bookstore the first chance you get and inquire with the clerk about the opportunity of them stocking and selling your book.
They walk you over to the computer and punch in your title. They ask “is your book in in the Ingrams distribution system?” and you stare at them not knowing what that is. You had no idea such a system existed but you give them your title and author name nonetheless and they proceed to search....
Hey Guys! Nicole Gabriel here!
One of my more popular episodes was one of my first…”Are You Holding Out For A Publisher?”
We’re going to go a bit more in depth on this today.
Here’s what it really comes down to…do you want to be an author or a writer of a book? Myself, I prefer to work with writers of a book. There are other coaches that will work with novel and fiction writers. As a book cover and layout designer I can do both and my system will get any book published. But, my strength is working with people that are already successful in their day job that are looking to add a book to their overall business plan.
Back in 2013 Forbes contributor Nick Morgan wrote an article. He began with “Here’s the problem with self-publishing: no one cares about your book. That’s it in a nutshell. There are somewhere between 600,000 and 1,000,000 books published every year in the US alone, depending on which stats you...
Hey Guys! Nicole here!
If 80% of the population wants to write a book and only 2% do, then I hate to break it to you, but you will likely be judged about whatever it is you write!
There is always the voice of the inner critic- will it be a good book, will my reader relate, who will hate or judge me? Am I a good writer…I’m not a good writer!
Then there are those that, once you have written, will judge you for not being good enough to have a voice…who are you to write a book? It’s likely they are jealous they haven’t in most cases.
People, especially close family and friends, can be the biggest critics because they see who you are and what you’ve been though. They may see you as the little girl, the little sister, the daughter…the person you were when they last knew you…when you were like maybe 18 at the oldest.
And then there are the neigh-sayers that don’t think you could possibly have enough life...
Hey Guys!
As someone who’s had a podcast now for a few years I’m watching the birth of many new shows pop up as a result us all being locked in at home. Some of them are really great and I hope they stick around.
Podcasting is a great way to communicate if you have something to say, but I’m kind of looking at this like the gym after new years. It will boom and then everyone will get tired of all the work it takes to keep up with fresh new ideas, finding guests, editing, and production. Many may also begin to phase out when they lack quantifiable results or they’ll simply just go back to work.
Having a podcast may not produce a direct return on your investment but it’s a great tool for creating awareness of the other things you do. Since it’s not supported monetarily the only way you can gauge results is on visitor numbers and just sorta hope you can get them to convert. But, what are you converting them to? Have you built the...
Hi Guys! Nicole here! I hope you are well.
I’ve often been asked “where do I begin with my book?”.
Writers have so many very different styles on how they write and it also depends on the genre but one thing I think we will all agree on is that if something is moving you than you have to follow the nudge.
I know that I have a future filled with many books. I have so much more to share. There are many environmental things to consider as well as how one is positioned in life and in their writing space.
Since I know I will always be a writer I know how much quiet, reflective, and personal time and space I need. Since I am also single this plays a large factor in my choosing of a partner. If I want to write and I never get time and space I’m going to struggle all the way around.
And here’s a few really interesting things I’ve found…sometimes the author wants a life but observes a life…for example, the phone rings and...
Happy Aloha Friday!
Nicole (00:02):
I've invited authors I've worked with over the years to join me in a new series of shows where I will be interviewing them as we talk about what their book is about, how the book has helped them personally or professionally and where they are now. The thing I love about doing these interviews the most is really getting to know my clients and of course sharing them with you because honestly I love them all. I am definitely my client's biggest fan. Today's guest is a dynamo. Let me introduce you.

Hey Guys! Nicole Gabriel here!
The freedom of the press is still alive for the self-published author!
Since I’ve created this platform for those interested in writing a book, I want to enhance the idea that a book will define you as an expert in your subject. It will give you a voice where you might not have had one. And in this unprecedented time in history, do you feel the call to leave your mark? Has something got you fired up?
Have you been a victim of these times? Have you lost your job; lost a family member; been booted out of your home or apartment; kicked out of a public place; are you afraid of loosing your rights due to possible mandated vaccines? Where have your civil liberties been violated? Or, how have you used the time to connect to loved ones, have a spiritual or personal breakthrough, or enhance your business?
Have all these discussions in our political system had you thinking about justice or change? As likely with all humans globally, have you...
Hey Guys! Nicole Gabriel here!
Have you been watching everything going on in the world and you want your voice heard? Are you an expert in something but you’re lacking the necessary crowd-pleasing credentials? How many times have you looked at the state of our world and said “somebody should do something!” And then you are literally aching inside that no one has. You’re likely a way-shower, a light-bearer, a change-maker.
You have watched people stand up with a voice and a strong opinion but what turns it from an option to a fact or better yet…what makes them an expert?
You know, during this last few months I told a few people that I believed I may have come in contact with this COVID virus and there were times I was very ill over the last few years. I had friends that doubted me until they read an article stating that it’s possible the virus has been around a lot longer than originally predicted. So what they read gave them the...
Hey Guys! Nicole Gabriel here!
I always like to take themes I’ve experienced throughout the week into these podcasts. This weeks theme is all around identifying the content to leverage it properly for all communication and initiatives.
So, by now you’ve figured out that I’m all about aligning you with the reason you’re writing the book in the first place. You know, I get a lot of people asking is a particular topic would make a good book and well…my first response is always “what do you plan to do with it?” Though its admirable to write a book to help people, the greatest gift you can give to ourself is being uber crystal clear as to why you are writing it to begin with.
I’ve told you that writing a book is a huge commitment of time and money but honestly, until most authors are all done writing and producing and spent a few months basking in the creation, sales, and marketing of their book they really have no...
