Today’s Topic: Book Cover Mistakes & Lessons - There’s Far More to the Cover Than Meets the Eye!
OK first off I’m gonna just spill the beans! I just got fired! I’ve been doing all things book for a long time and I’m fine making myself vulnerable for both of us to learn. I’m good at what I do, but occasionally I’m just not a fit for someone. I have no hard feelings so don’t get me wrong. Not all relationships are bliss.
Since my client fired me I think its pretty safe to say we can talk about what went wrong without doing any harm. In other words, I don’t think she’s tuning into my podcast! And, I can share some lessons she and I both learned in the process so this kind of thing doesn’t happen to you in the future!
It’s been so long I can’t remember the exact date, but I think its safe to say that about 3 years ago this client came to me to let me know she was writing a book and planned to hire...
Today’s Topic: Why Every Coach Should Write A Book: Establishing Your Authority and Defining Your Center of Expertise
We are going to talk about why a coach should write a book, but before we do let’s talk about why you haven’t. Most people haven’t written a book because of fear… because, let’s be honest… if you want to do something bad enough, your going to find a way to do it.
But, maybe you just don’t know how a book would serve you. I mean, a lot of people think of it like a vanity project. Writing a book has become a bit more common these days than it used to be, but there is still a certain amount of stature a book holds in many circles.
But, putting ego aside, a book is actually not just one of the best things you can do for marketing yourself and your business, but it can also serve as a great platform for setting yourself up as an expert in your field.
Where I personally find a book to be the most useful is when it...

Today’s Topic: Do I have enough pages for a manuscript? Building content for your book…
What is it that takes people over the edge from thinking about writing a book to actually completing one? Generally passion and purpose are foremost. But, of course, there also has to be a drive to complete it with a strong reason to do so. And, once you are over the edge with purpose, developing content is key… But, how to you know if you have enough content to make a book?
People usually ask me: “How many pages do you have to write to actually have enough for a solid book?” Well… it’s actually not about pages, but more about word count.
Pages are kinda irrelevant since most word documents are 8.5 x 11” and a typical book page is about half of that at 6 x 9”. And with spacing and font size it can be hard to know what it will actually convert into. So, in the book world we go by word count. Generally most New York quality books...
Let me first say that no one is too busy to write a book! It’s a myth. It’s a cop out. It’s a lie!
Hey Guys! Nicole Gabriel here! I’m the host of the Let’s Get Your Book Published podcast. I’m also the author of 4 books, a Book Designer, and a Publishing Coach as well as an intuitive Business Coach. I’ve been in the book business for awhile now. I’ve helped many clients get their book published over this time and I’ve learned many things. I share personal stories, client stories, and some of the truths about the publishing business here on this podcast. I love what I do but I don’t like seeing people being taken advantage of or given false promises on the journey to publishing their book. I do my best to keep things raw and real here and I don’t build you up with false promises of fortune and fame. I help you align the content of your book so that it returns the greatest value personally and professionally....
Since my platform is all about self publishing… the freedom of the press and the ability to have free speech is something I’m watching these days. I thought this to be a very apropos subject for discussion on today’s podcast given the state of our lockdown and messy political system we are all wrapped up in.
I’m tired of being censored and shut down on social media and I’m tired of the biased propaganda in the mainstream media! How about you?
Hi Guys! Nicole Gabriel here.
The First Amendment guarantees the right to express ideas and information. People can express an opinion (whether popular or unpopular) without government censoring. All forms of communication are protected.
I wanted to understand if the first amendment had limits, so I did some research to understand it some more. We are allowed to speak our mind and stand up for what we believe in as long as we are not harming others to get what we want. We are not allowed to use speech to...
So, I have lots of people asking me regularly how to easily get set up for doing their own podcast. It’s a natural progression to write a book and transition into a more visual role. A podcast is a great way to share your voice. And it’s a funny thing that all things covid have given podcasting such a rise in popularity once again.
Hey Guys! Nicole Gabriel here! Welcome!
If you anticipate getting into podcasting as you launch your book then it should be written in a way that makes it easy to leverage its content for shows. It would look much the same if you anticipated using the content for speaking, coaching, teaching, or training. The book sets you up as a subject matter expert in itself, but the next step is aligning it so that it can better serve you. For example, when I wrote my Let’s Get Your Book Published book I took all the repetitive processes I do daily with my clients and married them with the book publishing process and developed the content for...
Hey guys! Nicole Gabriel here!
Did you know that content marketing strategy is one of the hottest topics on the internet right now?
If you’re not familiar with what this is, let’s start there. A content marketing strategy is how a marketer identifies a particular audience (generally one they wish to market to) and delivers targeted content to them. From a technology perspective, in an online environment, there are technologies that manage and deploy website content…(CMS) content management systems. We are not going to talk about the systems here but we are going to talk about how to effectively build out content for your book project…more the content strategy.
The strategy of building content is an ongoing process that pairs business objectives with meaningful, relevant, and valuable content for achieving particular goals…ultimately to drive a profitable customer action with targeted marketing.
Of course, the most wonderful thing about...
Hey Guys!
Let’s talk about brainstorming book ideas…
I think you’ve heard me say this a few times, but I’ll say it again…you have to identify your passions, purpose, and values before you begin writing!
It’s important that your book and your business line up. You’re going to have a hard time sustaining energy about a topic that doesn’t interest you in six months to a year. You have to build your passion into the topics you write about and into every aspect of your business. You will do whatever it takes to push forward a mission or purpose that aligns with your passion and values. This is your inspiration.
Let me start by asking you…what reason do you have to bring into existence the information you are providing to your readers?
Whatever your answer, this all should be coming across in the branding of both your book (or books) and your business platform and social presence. Anyone showing up on your website or peering...
So many authors struggle with knowing they want to write a book but not knowing how to drum up the content. You’ve heard me talk about this many times if you’ve listened to any of my podcasts…and you know that I believe a book should ultimately be aligned with your goals, values, and visions personally and professionally. But, I’m gonna approach this a bit differently today.
Hi Guys! Nicole Gabriel here!
The best advise I can give you is to get out there and live!
You know, apparently I have a great life for being an author because every time I share a tidbit of my life someone tells me “you know, you should write a book!”. I never really planned for my life to be so grand. In fact, I was reflecting during a long road trip I just returned from. I was thinking about the plan I had for my life and how life has turned out. I know I’ve talked to parents that say the same about having kids…there is the way you envision...
